Admissions 2026/27
Choosing a school is a decision for years to come
Admission to VIII Private Academic High School in Krakow opens as early as September of the year before studies begin.
Our approach
Admission is a chance to get to know one another
We see it not merely as the formal process of joining the school, but above all as an important stage in getting to know one another. We want to find out who the applicant is, what they need, what interests them, where their strengths lie and what plans they have for the future. Understanding what parents expect of the school matters to us just as much – both in terms of education and of support for the child overall development.
We want the choice of school to be an informed and well-considered one. That is why during admissions we talk, listen, answer questions and work out together whether VIII PALO is the right place for your child to grow.
The decision to place an applicant on the list of admitted students is taken by the headteacher after meeting the applicant and their parents or legal guardians.
Step by step

We look at your results so far
These documents help us understand the applicant educational path so far. We look at more than the grades themselves, though. We are also interested in the student commitment, their potential, interests, achievements and readiness to work in an environment that is demanding but offers real support.
- grades obtained at the end of Year 7 and / or at mid-year or the end of Year 8,
- the conduct grade,
- any outstanding achievements,
- for applicants applying after the end of the school year - also the result of the Year 8 examination and the final primary school grades.
Preferred criteria
preferred grade average
The average is calculated excluding the following subjects:
- music,
- art,
- design and technology,
- physical education,
- religious education / ethics.
Preferred conduct grade: good or higher
A conversation about the applicant and their plans
This is one of the most important stages of admission. During the conversation we want to get to know the applicant as a person – how they think, what interests them, where their strengths lie, what they have done so far, what they need and what plans they have for their further education.
It is also an opportunity for parents and the applicant to get to know the School better – its values, its atmosphere, the way it works and its programmes in detail. We want the meeting to feel like a conversation between partners, so that everyone taking part can judge in comfort whether VIII PALO will be a good place for the applicant to grow.
- the applicant interests and passions,
- what they have achieved so far,
- their strengths,
- their educational and developmental needs,
- what parents expect of the school,
- plans regarding the choice of class profile and extended-level subjects,
- how VIII PALO can support a young person as they grow.
Checking readiness for the chosen profile
The test allows us to check whether the applicant is ready to study in a class that requires advanced mathematical skills. We do not treat it purely as a formal examination – for us it is an additional tool that helps us judge how well prepared the applicant is for this model of education.
Applicants and parents receive detailed information about the test when they contact the school office or during the admissions meeting.
The admissions decision
In reaching that decision we consider not only academic results, but also the applicant potential, motivation, achievements, needs and readiness to grow in the VIII PALO environment.
